Whirl is a curriculum from Sparkhouse (which is part of Augsburg Fortress, the publishing house for the ELCA).

The idea behind Whirl is to connect what we hear in worship with what we learn in Sunday School.  The main Whirl lesson each week will be the same as the Gospel reading, and the Whirl lesson illuminates and expands that reading so that the children can find more meaning it.

This will be a change from what Kidfaith Sunday School has looked like for the past 6 or 7 years!  We are not going to be doing Rotation Stories, or workshop leaders, but we are still going to have a great time! A typical Sunday morning will look something like this:

9:45 – Preschool through 3rd grade gather in Room 5 for opening

10:00 – Split into Pre-K and 1st-3rd groups for the main lesson which includes a video, games, discussion, crafts . . . You get the idea

10:35 – Circle up to be sent out!  Wrap up any questions and get ready to live out the story for the week!

Whirl is intentionally designed to mirror worship with a time to Gather, a time around the Word and a Sending time at the end.
