 \nJerri Lynn Modrall\nNovember 5\, 1952 – April 1\, 2026\nJerri Lynn Mod
 rall\, age 73\, died April 1\, 2026. Jerri had faced many health issues ov
 er the past eight years\, including lung issues\, CTEPH and Pulmonary Arte
 rial Hypertension\, a massive STEMI heart attack in 2020 and then leiomyos
 arcoma cancer in 2026. Jerri was born in Longmont\, Colorado to Earl and G
 wen Modrall and lived in Longmont and Frederick her entire life. She was p
 receded in death by her parents and her brother\, James Modrall. She was a
 lso preceded in death by uncles and aunts\, Carl and Lorraine Miller and A
 rt and Lucy Stromquist. She is survived by her husband\, Eric Doering\, ni
 ece Jamie Modrall Bybee\, and cousins Luke\, Lorraine\, Dortha\, and Charl
 ie Stromquist\, sister in law\, Nancy Norman\, and brother in law and his 
 wife\, Tad and Mary Doering and niece and nephew\, Sarah and Andrew Doerin
 g.\nJerri graduated from Longmont High School in 1970. She earned a B.A. i
 n English/Spanish and Secondary Education\, Bethany College\, Lindsborg Ka
 nsas in 1974\, and M.A. in Elementary Education\, University of Northern C
 olorado in 1979. She was a dedicated Bilingual educator in the St. Vrain V
 alley School District 1974-2011. She loved helping her Spanish speaking st
 udents embrace their culture and heritage while learning English. She was 
 also very active as an advocate for students and teachers through the St. 
 Vrain Valley Education Association\, as a member of the negotiations commi
 ttee for 25 years\, Vice President during the 1990’s\, and President of 
 SVVEA from 2004-2010. In 2011 following retirement she opened a tutoring b
 usiness\, Wise Owl Tutoring\, working with students with Dyslexia and ADHD
 .\nFamily and friends were so important to Jerri and she loved spending ti
 me with them. She always said she was blessed with such loving and wonderf
 ul parents and her beloved brother. Jerri married Eric on July 31\, 1976 a
 t First Lutheran Church\, Longmont and they made their home in Longmont. J
 erri was a lifetime member of First Lutheran Church and served on a variet
 y of boards including: Bethany College Alumni Council\, the Board College 
 Board of Directors\, First Lutheran committees\, Eben Ezer Lutheran Home B
 oard\, Rocky Mountain ELCA\, Synod Council\, the Hispanic Education Founda
 tion in Longmont\, Phi Delta Kappa and Delta Kappa Gamma. She also directe
 d the Cherub/Joyful Noise children’s choir at First Lutheran\, 1974-2018
 \, touching the lives of over 1000 children of the church through the year
 s. She committed her life to justice\, equality\, and fairness for all peo
 ple.\nIn 2001 Jerri and Eric built a home on one of Jerri’s family farms
  in Frederick and became involved in Frederick community activities. She l
 oved living on the “Knoll” looking out across the Carbon and St. Vrain
  Valleys and the beautiful Rocky Mountains. Jerri loved mowing the yard on
  the riding lawn mower and tending their large garden. During her illnesse
 s her home was her haven. Jerri enjoyed travel\, golf\, reading\, gourmet 
 cooking\, attending Bronco and Air Force Falcon football games\, and spend
 ing time with family and friends.\nJerri’s funeral service will be April
  11\, 2026\, at 11 am\, First Lutheran Church\, 803 Third Avenue\, Longmon
 t. A reception will follow at the church. Visitation will be in the Firesi
 de Room of the church from 10-11 am prior to the service. A private graves
 ide service at Mt. View Cemetery will take place at a later date. In lieu 
 of flowers contributions to the First Lutheran Church Memorial Fund are ap
 preciated. Ahlberg Funeral Home is providing assistance.
