 n\n\nOBITUARY\nRodney J. Ahlberg\nJune 14\, 1949 – August 20\, 2026\nIN 
 THE CARE OF\nAhlberg Funeral Chapel\nRodney J. Ahlberg\, of Wayne\, NE for
 merly of Longmont\, CO \npassed away peacefully at his home on August 20\,
  2026. He was 77.\nRod was born June 14\, 1949 to Rodney A. and M. Corrine
  (Brown) Ahlberg in Longmont\, CO. He graduated from Longmont High School 
 in 1968.\nRod\, along with his family\, owned and operated Ahlberg Funeral
  Chapel in Longmont. He had a true passion for the mortuary business and l
 ived by the motto “Service Above Self”. Rod decided to retire from the
  mortuary in the fall of 2018 and moved to Wayne\, NE to build their forev
 er home and be close to his daughter.\nIn the spring of 2021 Rod was diagn
 osed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. He defied all the odds living several ye
 ars longer than anyone expected.\nBeing a work acholic he returned back to
  the work force in April\, 2023 working for Securitas at Great Dane\, in W
 ayne and continued to work until just a few weeks before his death.\nRod l
 oved to team rope and traveled thousands of miles to rodeos and jackpots. 
 When Cashley was 11\, he set down his heel ropes to help Cashley pursue he
 r dream of showing cattle and to dedicate more time to the family business
 .\nRod was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church and served on Chu
 rch Council. He was a very strong supporter to the youth at the Boulder Co
 unty Fair.\nRod loved his family\, his rodeo family and his friends and tr
 uly enjoyed a good conversation.\nHe is preceded in death by his parents a
 nd sister\, Linnea.\nSurvived by his wife Vicky (Halstead)\, Wayne of 43 y
 ears\, daughter Cashley Ahlberg-Smith (Bill)\, Wayne and grandchildren Emb
 erly and Declan Smith\, Wayne\; brother Randy Ahlberg (Sue)\, Longmont\, C
 O\; sister Signe Nystuen (Paul)\, West Fargo\, ND. Sister-in-laws – Kim 
 Ingram (George) Stoughton\, Saskatchewan\, Carmen Jackson (Levi) Sedley\, 
 Saskatchewan and Dawn Halstead\, Lestock\, Saskatchewan. Also survived by 
 numerous nieces and nephews.\nServices in Longmont\, CO will be held Septe
 mber 11\, 2026 at 11:00 AM at First Evangelical Lutheran Church\, Longmont
 .\nServices in Wayne\, NE will be held September 18\, 2026 at 11:00 AM at 
 Our Savior Lutheran Church\, Wayne.\nCremation has been held with inurnmen
 t at a later date on the family farm in Wayne\, NE\nIn lieu of flowers\, c
