Linnea "Linn" Ahlberg

October 1, 1963 – August 23, 2025

Linnea Ann “Linn” Ahlberg passed away on Saturday August 23, 2025, at the age of 61.
She was born on October 1, 1963, in Longmont, CO, to Rodney A. and M. Corrine (Brown) Ahlberg.

Growing up in Longmont, she attended Hygiene Elementary, Longs Peak Junior High, and graduated from Longmont High School in 1981. She played basketball and ran track. Linn earned a bachelor’s degree from Colorado State University Pueblo, graduating in 1987. Linn attended the Commonwealth Institute of Funeral Service in Houston, TX, graduating in 1994 with an associate’s degree in mortuary science, and became a licensed funeral director in the state of Colorado.

Linn loved animals, especially horses, owning several in junior and senior high school and beyond. She was a member of the Cloverleaf Riders 4-H Club, participated in rodeos in barrel racing and pole bending competitions, and was selected Boulder County Rodeo Queen in 1984. Later, she would continue volunteering her time with 4-H and the Boulder County Fair as an exhibit supervisor.

She worked for many years at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel as a funeral director, serving and supporting families in their time of loss. Linn also spent time working with her friend Mike Herrera doing custom stucco work, and most recently worked at Family Chiropractic Clinic for her friend Dr. Brenda Shelton and as the sexton and manager of Ryssby Cemetery.

Linn was a lifelong member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she found Jesus as her Lord and Savior. Her faith was unwavering. She had served on Church Council and the Ryssby Committee and was a member of First Lutheran Women. Linn was also a member of P.E.O. Chapter GH, holding several offices, including president. She served as the president of the Colorado Funeral Directors Association in 2001.

Linn is remembered for her big smile and her desire to help others. Linn enjoyed walks with her dog, fishing, spending time with family and friends, and doing counted cross stitch.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her niece Annika Linn Ahlberg.

Linn is survived by sister Signe Nystuen (Paul); brothers Rod Ahlberg (Vicky) and Randy Ahlberg (Sue); nieces and nephews Peder Nystuen (Katie), Adam Nystuen (fiancée Angela), Cashley Ahlberg Smith (Bill), Torre Ahlberg (Susan), Krista Ahlberg (fiancé Shakeel Dalal), and Sofia Ahlberg (fiancé Viktor Baeza), grandnieces and grandnephews Lilyahna Nystuen, Trysten Nystuen, Evie Nystuen, Emberly Smith, and Declan Smith; and many cousins. Linn spent many happy years traveling and spending fun times with her special friend and companion Dave Montgomery and her faithful and beloved dog Bud, who was by her side until the very end.

A visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Monday, September 1, 2025, at the Ahlberg Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 2, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church. Interment at Ryssby Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to First Evangelical Lutheran Church.
