SPECIAL CONGREGATION MEETING

A special congregational meeting has been called in response to the petition submitted by 25 voting members of the Congregation, which alleges unauthorized unconstitutional actions by Rick Samson and Dorotha Ekx relating to the end of Pastor Garrett Struessel’s call, and requests that the Congregation consider those allegations and their consequences.

In response on July 21, 2026, the Congregational Council unanimously adopted a Resolution identifying additional facts it believes are material to understanding the events surrounding Pastor Garrett’s departure, including: the involvement of the Rocky Mountain Synod; Pastor Garrett’s two periods of reflection; Pastor Garrett’s request that his resignation negotiations occur between the Executive Committee and Synod representatives (in his email dated May 26, 2026); and, the Council’s subsequent vote accepting the Pastor’s resignation and approving his transition agreement

Location: The Big Room at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 803 3rd Ave.
Date and Time: August 30, 2026, 10: 45 a.m.

This meeting will be facilitated by Brian Mason, District Attorney for Colorado’s 17th Judicial District, which serves Adams and Broomfield Counties and a member of Atonement Lutheran Church, Boulder. This being a specially called congregation meeting, no other issues or matters may be discussed or decided.
