Sixteen years ago we began leasing the lower-level apartment of the FELC Parish House to the OUR Center to provide transitional housing to families they worked with. We now believe it is time to return the entire house to housing, expanding the partnership with the OUR Center.
Our vision is to remodel the Parish House into two separate three-bedroom apartments for families moving from housing instability toward long-term housing stability. This is an opportunity to turn an existing community resource into two temporary homes for families who need a safe place to rebuild and move forward.
First Lutheran and the OUR Center are committed to this partnership to making this vision a reality. Together, we can provide families with a safe, stable, temporary place to live while they work toward permanent housing and greater independence. The current Parish House apartment has housed 3-4 families per year on average over the past 16 years.
Our congregation has already pledged $125,000 toward the estimated $500,000 project cost, and we will continue to raise funds within our church community, local grantmakers, community partners, and individuals who share our commitment to creating more housing opportunities for families in Longmont. We invite you to help make this vision possible.
